Preserving and using Jewelweed
To use fresh jewlweed mush the leaf and put it on or split the stem and rub it on.
You can also make jewlweed icecubes to preserve the jewlweed. Here is my recipe:
Pick ALOT of jewlelweed leaves. I recommend about 20 cups for... alot.. Now pound the jewelweed with the pointy end of a meat tenderizer, you can use a hammer, too. Anyway, pound the jewlweed until it is all dark green and juicy. Pound a little more before using a juicer (this is a good kind: http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/2/0/0/2d/b/AAAAAhs0yogAAAAAAC2xXQ.jpg?v=1170253514000) or just squeezing it with you hands. I really recommend some kind of juicer. So... you juice the mash, making a dark green juice. Use a turkey baster to fill some ice trays with the juice. (you could just pour it in...) Put the ice trays in the freezer, FREEZE! Apply to bug bites to relieve itching.
